Clean windows brighten rooms and improve the appearance of a home or business, but “window cleaning” can describe several different scopes. Glass, screens, tracks, frames, hard-water deposits, paint, and elevated exterior access are not interchangeable tasks.
A clear estimate helps DFW property owners understand what will be cleaned and what may require specialty treatment.
Interior, exterior, or both?
Interior cleaning addresses room-side glass and reachable surrounding areas in the agreed scope. Exterior cleaning addresses weather-exposed glass and may require different tools, water systems, ladders, or access planning.
Count panes and note doors, transoms, divided glass, skylights, and second-story windows. A “window count” can be misleading when one opening contains many individual panes.
Screens, tracks, and frames
Basic glass service may not include deep screen washing or detailed track cleaning. Tracks can hold compacted soil, insects, and construction debris that take considerably longer than wiping glass.
Ask for these items specifically and disclose damaged or brittle screens before removal.
North Texas weather and timing
Wind, pollen, irrigation spray, storms, and nearby construction can leave film on exterior glass. There is no perfect calendar date that prevents future weather, but many properties schedule around seasonal buildup, events, listings, or routine facility maintenance.
Interior glass may need a different frequency from the exterior, especially in homes with children or businesses with high-touch entrance doors.
Hard-water spots and construction residue
Mineral deposits, paint, adhesive, mortar, or scratched glass require evaluation. Routine cleaning may not remove etched deposits, and scraping the wrong type of glass can cause damage.
Never assume post-construction residue is part of standard glass cleaning. Provide close photos and explain the source when possible.
Preparing your home or business
Clear window sills, move fragile objects, open blinds or curtains, and identify alarm sensors. Arrange access to locked rooms and keep pets or customers away from active work areas.
For exterior work, move vehicles and patio items when requested and point out irrigation, landscaping, gates, or unstable ground.

Frequently asked questions
Are screens and tracks included with window cleaning?
They may be separate scope items. Confirm glass, screens, tracks, sills, and frames individually in the estimate.
Can hard-water spots always be removed?
No. Mineral buildup may require specialty treatment, and permanently etched glass may not be restored by cleaning.
Do you clean second-story exterior windows?
Height and exterior access must be evaluated for safety, equipment, and service availability.
